As the runners-up of the Pro-Am SBL last season, AMK Bravehearts has a high grassroot following. In its inaugural SBL season, the team surprised the league as an underdog by finishing the season with a 12-1 record and reaching the finals.
AMK Bravehearts represents the pinnacle of a grassroots basketball team, with a heart of giving back to the community that groomed it. Born in the humble heartlands of Ang Mo Kio, the team was the brainchild of the late Lee Liat Beng who the brought together a group of youths to keep them away from the streets.
One of these youths was Mr Kelvin Lee, the current club owner, himself.
Although the club has now grown in size and reputation, Mr Kelvin Lee is adamant about keeping his club rooted to its humble beginnings and the values of giving back to the community.
Mr Kelvin Lee is very excited about the partnership with Slingers Nation citing that he is excited to partner with the online blog: “The values of both of our organisation are very aligned. We are both serious about developing the sport of basketball in Singapore from the grassroots, and giving back to the community. This collaboration will allow both our organisations to better achieve our common goals”.
While Slingers Nation will be adopting AMK Bravehearts as its partner Pro Am SBL team and providing exclusive coverage on the high-profile team on its media channels, the major component of the partnership would predominantly be about giving back to the community and keeping grassroots basketball alive in Singapore.
The Bravehearts will kick-off their Pro-Am SBL season campaign on 6 December 2015.
