The Singapore Slingers will not be the only team fielding a new import on Friday evening when they take on the Dragons in MABA Stadium.
The Westports Malaysia Dragons have signed Filipino-American guard Julius Armon as their third ASEAN import while shooting guard Patrick Cabahug recovers from a severe ankle sprain.
Cabahug landed on the foot of an opposing player after attempting a shot in the game between the Dragons and the Jobstreet.com Singapore Slingers on March 10. Cabahug, who has been using crutches, has been receiving daily treatment on the injury and hopes to return in the next 2 to 3 weeks.
Armon is a 193cm combo guard who previously played collage basketball in the Phillipines for the San Beda Red Lions. Armon has been cleared by the ABL to play and he will suit up for the Dragons in their home game on Friday night against the Slingers.
John Ng is also on the injured list and will not be playing for the Dragons this week after undergoing minor surgery recently for the removal of gallstones. He did not travel with the team to Ho Chi Minh City for the ABL’s Hoop Fest weekend. John is resting and will be re-evaluated in a week.
