Another game, another loss, another poor showing from the imports.
After a ‘below the belt’ post, it got JJ Cabatu so fired up, he managed 19 points and 6 rebounds. Sounds good? Getting in 9 out 22 shots made, playing 36 minutes and 30 seconds, and people are saying that Pinoys are good basketballer? They definitely will never find JJ Cabatu as the posterboy to this statement.
On a night where Donald Isidro Dulay managed 0/3 on 3 Pointers (when was the last time he got a 3 point) and sharing 12 points equally with Singleton, only “Shadzilla” managed to restore some “import” dignity by hitting 16 points. Not to mention, Dulay recorded 7 turnovers, one of which cost Slingers the game.
The question begets: Does the Slingers and its management really believe that they can avoid the wooden spoon with this 4 imports? Coach Neo seems clueless as to how he should deploy both Jones-Jennings and Singleton in the same court wearing the same jersey. The team are penalizing locals all too often (well, how else can they show their superiority?)
Worst, posts were coming up on the Singapore Slingers Facebook page that some local cagers stayed back in Singapore and were playing 3-on-3 basketball in West Mall. How about 3 pointer contest champion Lim Sheng Yu managing to play over 8 minutes and not getting as ‘serious minutes’ as some undeserving Imports?
Which of the following players were selected by Coach Neo to participate as a Slinger: (a) Singleton; (b) Jones-Jennings; (c) Dulay; and (d) Cabatu
The answer is none. It is ironic that the Singapore National Coach was chosen due to him being the head coach of the Singapore Slingers, and not because he is the Singapore National Coach, he is chosen to lead the Singapore Slingers. The moment Frank Arsego’s player leave the team (Jeffers was the last of Arsego’s imports), the team still cannot find a W in their recent games.
The management can feel aggrieved about what Slingers Nation is posting, but they have to bear in mind:
WITHOUT THE FANS, THE SINGAPORE SLINGERS IS JUST ANOTHER BASKETBALL TEAM. YOU CAN IGNORE THE FANS, BUT STATS DUN LIE. THE FANS GOT IT RIGHT – AGAIN (AND IT’S HARD TO SEE HOW MANY WRONGS THE FANS CAN GET) .
